A Wedding with a Heart: Jeet Adani and Diva Shah's Philanthropic Celebration
Weddings are often grand celebrations of love, but some stand out for their deeper meaning and impact. The wedding of Jeet Adani, son of industrialist Gautam Adani, and Diva Shah was one such event, blending traditional festivities with a profound commitment to philanthropy and inclusivity. Held on February 7, 2025, this Jain-Gujarati ceremony not only celebrated the union of two individuals but also uplifted Indian artistry and advocated for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).
Uplifting Artisans with Disabilities
Jeet and Diva, in collaboration with ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra and the NGO Family of Disabled (FOD), incorporated meaningful elements throughout their wedding. Manish Malhotra worked closely with divyang (differently-abled) artisans from FOD to design custom shawls for the bride and groom. Jeet's shawl featured intricate threadwork, while Diva's shawl showcased floral motifs in white, highlighting the artisans' remarkable talent.
Hand-Painted Wedding Essentials
FOD artisans also contributed hand-painted wedding essentials, including glassware, plates, and accessories, adding an aesthetic spectacle to the entire celebration. Guests received Paithani sarees from Yeola, Nashik, woven by over 400 artisans, further supporting local craftsmanship. The wedding also showcased unique pieces created by renowned artisans, including intricate fingernail art bookmarks and decorative glass art.
Mangal Seva: Empowering Women with Disabilities
Perhaps the most remarkable initiative of the wedding was the launch of Mangal Seva, an empowering program under which Jeet and Diva pledged financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh each to 500 newly married women with disabilities. Jeet personally met 25 of these women and their husbands, offering not just financial support but also heartfelt encouragement, embodying the Adani family’s philanthropic spirit.
The Adani Foundation, through initiatives like GreenX Talks, has already impacted over 9.1 million lives in 6,769 villages. Jeet’s wedding only strengthened this legacy, drawing attention to the talents and potential of differently-abled individuals. Gautam Adani expressed his pride on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing the commitment to bringing happiness, peace, and respect to the lives of differently-abled women and their families.
